You guys have been asking for this for a long time.
It’s been twenty years since this beast was unleashed. To mark the anniversary, and more importantly, as a gift to every one of you who has kept this flame alive, we’ve gone back into the studio to do it right for 2026.

I’ve been working closely with my producer, Syndrone, who has absolutely crushed the production and the bulk of the guitar work on this track. We also brought some fresh fire to the solos, so we invited the incredible Sophie Burrell and Bradley Hall to step in and add their own magic to the mix.
This one is for the fans. Turn it up loud and blow your speakers out!

“Unchained” stands as one of the boldest and most surprising tracks of my career, bringing together strong influences from the progressive rock movement of the 1970s and 1980s, while also incorporating striking elements of 1990s fusion rock. The song features multiple atmospheric shifts, sophisticated instrumental passages, dynamic arrangements, diverse moods, intricate grooves, and a musical approach rarely explored in my previous works.

The track also marks my very first recording featuring a saxophone solo, performed by Wagner Barbosa, a musician who has accompanied me for many years in the Moonlight project. Another major highlight is Jean Gardinalli’s performance, bringing an extremely fluid and groove-oriented identity to the drums, blending prog and heavy metal elements with rich dynamics and expressive ghost-note patterns. Raphael Dafras’ bass work also plays a central role, exploring rhythmic, groovy, and highly organic lines far beyond the conventions of traditional power metal.

Instrumentally, “Unchained” also showcases one of Victor Franco’s most inspired performances, featuring a guitar solo crafted with exceptional taste, emotional melodies, and a strong sense of musical storytelling — a solo I had the pleasure of helping him develop. All of this is tied together through epic choruses, grand orchestral counterpoints, and intense, emotionally charged vocal melodies.

Within the narrative of MI’RAJ, “Unchained” represents the moment of Jorge’s spiritual ascension, as the protagonist of the trilogy crosses the ritual of the Twelve Veils alongside the seer Mi’raj, moving toward his true destiny.
